After arriving in Thailand, you are initially granted a period of stay up to 90 days or as indicated on the immigration stamp you receive upon your arrival. Since this period of time does not cover the entire semester or academic year, you will need to apply for a visa extension from the Immigration Bureau before the stay permit expires.
In order to file an application for visa extension, you need to obtain a letter from the Dean of Pridi Banomyong International College, which can be requested at the office of Pridi Banomyong International College. Please note that this process may take up to 3 days, therefore, it is advised that you request the letter at least 7 days before the stay permit expires.
Holders of multiple-entry visa please note that the extension of your visa will cancel the multiple-entry status. To maintain the validity of your student visa, you have two options. One option is to extend your visa, then apply for re-entry permit (either single or multiple entry) before you plan to travel out of Thailand during your study period. This option may be suitable for those who do not intend to travel in and out of Thailand often. The second option is to travel out of Thailand before your stay permit expires. Upon your return, you will receive a new immigration stamp that will allow you to stay in Thailand for up to another 90 days. This option is suitable for those who plan to explore the region or travel in and out of Thailand several times during your study period. |
